Toronto

(Coyville, Kansas)

I live here so it has to be my favorite. July 3rd. 2011, I caught a 18 lb. Channel. She was still full of eggs. The weird thing about it was she had teeth marks over 3/4 of an 18 pounder!!! I usually use 12 inch bait for flatheads, but an 18 pounder it getting a little large even for me. Just wait, Toronto will end up with the record over Fall River, and yet only 12 miles apart The best Kansas Catfishin in the State.

Water level back up.
by: Mike

It took em a year, but the flood gate repair on the Toronto Dam is finished. The fall/winter rains have filled the lake back up and the winter fishing is good again. Crappie are biting at 5-6 feet. The channel cats and blues are plentiful in the 5-8 pound range and are hitting on shad sides. The west side on the mud flats have been good for the cats, as well as the north end and river channel. The flatheads are holed up, but I did catch a 22 pounder Dec. 20 on the river south of the lake, probly due to the water level getting back to normal.
The duck and goose hunting has picked up a bunch with the lowlands filling back up with water. More big Canadian Geese this year than most years. Everyone seems to be filling their limits.
The Deer hunting? All ya have to do is stop the truck, open the door and they jump right in. Kidding aside, this happened on Hwy 105 a couple miles south of the lake this year. My neighbor Dave and I put out some corn every evening and have 6 does/yearlings show up waiting for dinner. Not as many big bucks this year as in the past, but still plentiful.
Turkey numbers are down this year. We had several large flocks, but have hardly seen any this fall/winter.
Coon numbers are down, but the coyote's are up this year.

Things are good here at Toronto this winter, specially the weather, so far. Come on Down!!!!
