Toronto Lake

by Tim Gifford
(Louisburg, Kansas)

My Grandpa was a coon hunting buddy of the first ranger at Toronto Lake, so my family has been going there since before it ever opened as a state park.
To me it's home!! Even though I live about 2 hours and 45 minutes away, I always feel at home when I'm there.
When I was growing up I spent every weekend at the lake with my family, Grandparents, cousin's, and a host of other relatives that I'm not sure how we are related.
I only get back to Toronto a few times each year now, but every time I get there all the memories of my Grandparents, who are now gone, flood back and I know I am home.

See ya at the Lake!
